Live at Square Chapel -Comedy Stars of the future

Live at Square Chapel is an exciting brand-new monthly comedy club for Square Chapel Arts Centre and features the hottest comedy talent on the scene today, including some well-known faces as well as stars of the future!

Each show will host a range of comedy styles from professional comics regularly playing clubs across the UK, some of whom are familiar faces on TV.

Doors 7:30pm and show starts at 8pm

MC: Aaron Simmonds, Paul McCaffrey, Tez Ilyas

Aaron Simmonds

Aaron Simmonds was a BBC New Comedy Award finalist in 2017. He also won Jewish Comedian Of The Year in the same year. His TV credits include The Stand Up Sketch Show (ITV2), Guessable (Comedy Central) and Back Chat (Dave). He has cerebral palsy and was a former international basketball player and world champion powerlifter.

Paul McCaffrey

Paul McCaffrey is a stand-up comedian and comic actor who appeared on the BBC3 prank show, Impractical Jokers, alongside Roisin Conaty, Joel Dommett and Marek Larwood.’Hugely professional… likeable, animated and fluid with a first-rate sense of timing’ (Chortle) ‘He has charm, charisma and success written all over him'(Bruce Dessau, Evening Standard) ‘Obviously born to be a comic’ (The Scotsman).

Tez Ilyas

A mischievous and engaging comic, he tackles a variety of topics with an intelligent mind and affair for deconstructing modern society while subverting audience’s expectations. His playful style and cheeky personality, along with a wry wit led him to win the coveted London Comedy Store’s King Gong on his first attempt, as well as reaching the finals of the BBC New Comedy Awards. Star of BBC Radio 4’s TEZ Talks, BBC Two’s ‘Live from the BBC’ and BBC Three’s ‘Man Like Mobeen’. ‘Sartorially stylish and winningly cheeky’ (Chortle)

  • You can access this space from our main entrance at the front of the building, the doors to this space are on the same level.
  • This is a seated and standing space, depending on the performance.
  • There are two access seats in our Red Brick space.
  • For standing events, you can request an access seat at the point of booking.
  • To access the toilets you need to use the lift from the foyer to the ground floor where you will find our access toilet, baby changing facility and a Changing Places facility.
  • We have two parking spaces at the front of our building (just outside the Southgate entrance of The Piece Hall) and two spaces down the side of our building just off Square Road. These spaces are available for Square Chapel customers and you must book spaces in advance of your visit, and display a blue badge.
  • Booking the access parking spaces means you will enter the building from our stage door area and will need to use the lift to take you to the foyer, kitchen, bar and Red Brick space.
  • Blue badge holders can reserve a parking space by emailing details of the car reg, make, model, colour, name of the owner, and date of time of performance attending. Email accessibility@squarechapel.co.uk
