The Arts Society, Halifax presents:

Sunken Treasures from the East: Tales of Chinese Shipwreck Porcelain. With Professor Marie Conte-Helm.

Chinese blue and white porcelain speaks of the important trade between East and West and this lecture traces the rich history of that trade. The “Nanking Cargo” and the “Hoi An” hoard, both recovered from early shipwrecks, enhanced our understanding of blue and white porcelain and its wider commercial impact.

Established in 2000 in the heart of Pennine Yorkshire, our Society offers a high quality and wide ranging programme of lectures and visits and welcomes everyone with an interest in the arts and their history.
