“A brilliant night – Alex Voysey’s guitar playing is out of this world.”

“Alex Voysey is not only a superb musician but plays with a feeling and a passion that is true to the meaning of the blues.”

If you love the blues then this is the show for you!

In 2021, blues rising star and session guitarist Alex Voysey teamed up with virtuosic funk bassist Ben Hands, drum maestro Paul Arthurs and musical theatre director Andy Alpass to create a refreshing and high-octane take on blues old and new. The result is a band that feeds off each other’s virtuosity and musical integrity to deliver shows packed with incredible guitar performances, phenomenal musicianship, funky grooves and memorable riffs – a smorgasbord of delights for blues lovers.

Their experience show, Old Dogs, New Tricks transports audiences through the very best of blues history. From the raw story-telling of founding fathers Robert Johnson and BB King through Stevie Ray Vaughan, onto the more lyrical blues of Eric Clapton and John Mayer, right up to contemporary artists Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Joe Bonamassa, Joanne Shaw Taylor and many more, plus Alex’s original blues material – all with high energy and an insanely virtuosic twist – this show will leave you feeling anything but blue!

As well as touring their blues theatre shows across the country to great acclaim, Alex has supported Mike Zito, Hardwicke Circus and the Billy Walton Band this year and appeared at several major blues festivals. Alex holds the role of Youth Ambassador to the UK Blues Federation, committed to inspiring the next generation of players and ‘keeping the blues alive’, so all ages are welcome to this show.

The band recently recorded their third original blues album with veteran producer and broadcaster Paul Long (producer for BB King, Catfish and R2 Cerys Matthews) due for release in spring 2024.
