Wake Up to Punk (15)Dir. Nigel Askew. UK 2022. 1 hr 23mins.

A fascinating, in depth, never heard before insight into the true origins of punk, via the Royal Family of punk itself. Nigel Askew’s film follows Joe Corré, son of punk visionaries Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren as he burns an estimated £5M worth of memorabilia in protest at the commercialisation of punk. Wake Up Punk includes intimate family moments between Vivienne and her two sons Ben and Joe, as they reminisce about the birth and decline of the scene and their own relationship with the late McLaren.

“It’s feisty, impassioned and entertaining stuff which makes a persuasive case that the disruptive spirit of punklives on” SCREENDAILY

“Brilliant. A calm look at the ferocious creativity punk generated with a true movie star right at its heart[Vivienne Westwood]” DANNY BOYLE
